Mr. Ranjith Ganganath Rubasinghe, born in 1970, spent his childhood in Weeraketiya, Sri Lanka. He attended Rajapaksha Central College and Richmond College for his primary and secondary education and graduated from University of Peradeniya (http://www.pdn.ac.lk/eng), Sri Lanka with a degree in BSc Eng, Electrical and Electronics (Specializing in Computer sciences and Data Structures). Mr. Rubasinghe has also completed his Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip.) in Engineering (Telecommunications & Electronics) in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa (http://www.mrt.ac.lk), Sri Lanka and Master in Business Administration (MBA), at the University of Colombo (http://www.cmb.ac.lk), Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is a charted Engineer in Electronics & Telecommunications obtained from Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka.
He started his career as an ICT Engineer and served in Fentons Computers Ltd, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation as an Information Systems Engineer and Sri Lankan Airlines Ltd. He had the chance of expanding his scopes to non-engineering fields as a Founder member of the IT Service Desk implementation team of Sri Lankan Airlines. Later, he joined Sri Lanka’s premier telecommunications and business Services Company, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and showed his managerial skills by pioneering the local brand “RAINBOW PAGES” resulting in replacing international brand Yellow Pages in Sri Lankan market within 3 years of inception of the SBU. During his time at RAINBOW PAGES, the first ever trilingual directory was introduced in Sri Lanka considering the requirements of National integrity and the first ever full colour directory of the country was also introduced. He developed the SBU up to the level of self sustain where Sri Lana Telecom decided to spin off RAINBOW PAGES as the first subsidiary of such kind.
With these achievements, he was entrusted the responsibility of building the new company SLT Manpower Solutions (Pvt) Ltd where he served as the first Chief Executive Officer from year 2008 to 2015. eSLT Manpower Solutions (Pvt) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, is a service organization in the business of empowering job seekers and companies by providing total manpower solutions. The organization helps companies in providing recruitment, training, assessment and selection, outsourcing and consulting services. By offering a complete range of services, the organization helps any company to raise
productivity through improved strategy, quality, and efficiency and cost reduction across their entire workforce. Not limiting to the service providing to SLT Group only, he was able to transform the organization to SLT Human Capital Solutions (Pvt) Ltd in 2013 with the mission to be the Leading Human Asset Management Partner in Sri Lanka and he indeed is Instrumental in building the company as the only integrated total HR Solution provider in the country.
With these accomplishments, he again was able to climb up in the corporate ladder when he was entrusted to play the key role as the Chief Executive Officer of Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd, the National mobile communication service provider in the country in year 2014. Mobitel recorded the best year of performance in 2015 too under the guidance of Mr. Rubasinghe where the Company managed to achieve its highest recorded profits in the history of the Company. Under his leadership, Mobitel was able to be awarded the “2015 Frost & Sullivan Sri Lanka Mobile Service Provider of the Year”, “2015 PMI Award for Project Excellence – Asia Pacific” for Mobitel Stage VII Expansion Project and also the prestigious accolade for culture and heritage category at the mBillionth Awards 2015 for the product “Mobitel mGuide”.
He is the Founder President / CEO of SLT Campus (SLTC) which was embarked to fulfil the national need of expanding the provision of higher education in Sri Lanka. SLTC offers degree programs developed in accordance with the Washington accord, leading to four year Engineering degrees which are “Accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education & Highways and Recognized by the University Grants Commission”
He was privileged to be awarded with the ‘HR LEADERSHIP AWARD’ which is one of the most prestigious awards that compliments an individual for his or her contribution to the field of Human Resource Management at the Global HR Excellence Awards 2010 in Asia Pacific HRM Congress, Bangalore, India and at the 2 nd IPE HR Leadership Awards 2013 held in Mumbai.
He is not only an innovative businessman but also a forward thinker with a mission to bring Sri Lanka to the forefront of global technology drive. He is one of the primary initiators of the TRACE Group (Technologically Re-Awakened Culture of Excellence) that aims to bring together experts of diverse fields into one location which was successful in creating the TRACE Expert City in Colombo which is the first comprehensive Knowledge Park in the country where he is a Director at the moment.
Mr. Rubasinghe has been serving as a council member of Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) (www.iesl.lk) for more than nine years. He has served as the Vice President of IESL, Chairman, Electrical & Electronic Sectional Committee and the National Engineering Conference Organizing Committee of IESL too. Further he has served as the Chairman of Young Members Section, Chairman of Inaugural National Engineering Conference and as the Chairman of Techno Engineering and technology exhibition in Year 2007 & 2008 and made it recognized as the National Engineering & Technology Exhibition in the country during his tenure as the Chairman. He is the winner of the “Chartered Engineering of the Year 2011” at the Engineering Excellence Awards organized by IESL.
He served as the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Engineering Professionals’ Association (SLEPA). He has been serving as a Forum Member of the Organization of Professional Associations since 2009. He served as the Deputy Chairman of the National HR Awards Committee and as a Member of the HR Service Providers’ Exhibition of Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) in Year 2011. Mr. Rubasinghe was able to hold the position of Chairman, Weeraketiya Rajapaksha Central College Past Pupils’ Association and the Vice President, Past Pupils’ Friendship Association of the college.
He shows his leadership qualities from his younger days. He was the Prefect in his school and served as the president of the several other societies. He became the President of the Peradeniya Students Union, the student body of Peradeniya University while serving in the Engineering Faculty Union. He was also selected as the President of Telecom Engineers Union, the trade union for engineering professionals of Sri Lanka Telecom and played a remarkable role as a trade-unionist.
He pioneered to start nonprofit organization, Radapasa ICT Associates’ Guild (RICTAG) (www.rictag.lk) and currently serves as the Chairman of the Guild. Radapasa ICT Associates’ Guild (RICTAG) is one of the premium Guilds, where many of IT professionals and undergraduates are contributing towards development of ICT in southern province of Sri Lanka with the vision of “To evolve a knowledge society in the down south where the society is rich in information, empowered by knowledge, infused with a distinctive value-system and is self-governing”.
By recognizing his proven track record in entrepreneurship, business development, human asset management, sales development and marketing, all three major professional bodies of the country offered him memberships and he is a Fellow member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), Associate Member of the Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) and Certified Member of The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM).
